Scott McAleer made and donated this incredible Calypso Variscite necklace. Set in a 14k solid gold bezel, and strung on a 16" sterling silver rounded box chain, this calypso cabochon was part of the rare vein at the mine that had tints of orange and yellow amongst the signature blue matrix. There weren't a bunch of cabochons that made it to market of this particular pocket. Scott made 4 pieces for this fundraiser. He donated this necklace along with 3 other pieces. The guy is incredibly generous. Scott (I call him Doctor Scotty) lives in Tennessee with his super talented girlfriend, Amie. Scott is a medical doctor and unfortunately for him, is always the one I turn to when I need medical advice. Every single time I've reached out, he is always there. I keep trying to tell him how much he would love lapidary ;c) Scotty is one of those dudes who beats to his own drum, but he is so incredibly smart.
